Virat Kohli's latest international assignment comes as India begin a six-week tour of New Zealand covering all three formats.

The first part of the trip is a five-match T20I series beginning on October 22. Kohli is not part of that T20I group, but he is included in India's ODI squad for the five-match series that follows in November.

The ODI schedule matters

The ODI series begins in Auckland on November 4, followed by matches in Wellington and Hamilton before the final two games at Mount Maunganui. The series forms part of India's longer preparation cycle for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Where Kohli fits

With his international role now concentrated on ODI cricket, each series brings a different kind of focus. Kohli's experience, batting tempo and ability to handle pressure remain central talking points whenever India build an ODI combination.

For RCB fans, the New Zealand tour is also a reminder that the 2026 season has already added another major chapter to Kohli's career after RCB's successful title defence earlier this year.
